STRIKES CALLED OFF.
It is a huge relief to the whole Spanish toursit economy that the strilkes threatened ny airport handling staff throughout the whiole country have been called off.
The unions claim that the management had presented a package of changes that were totally unacceptable and had called for 22 days of strikes that could have paralysed the airports during the busiest times of the year – including Easter and the May Holiday weekend as well as some dates in the summer.
The Spanish economy which is experiencing difficult times does not need any disruption to the tourist industry on which it depends so much. The tourist sector had a reasonably good 2010 and there is hope that 2011 will be even bettter.
The future looks more rosy with the news of the stirkes being called off. Apparently the management had presented their arguments badly but after 17 hours of talks, there is agreement to accept new working practices.
Molino del Santo looks forward to welcoming lots of people to the hotel in April and May and it is great to know that guests’ plans will not be disrupted by induistrial action,.

We have decided to delay our opening date in 2011 until the 25th February.
The decision is based on the level of interest being shown this early in the season, the building work which is taking a little longer than anticipated and personal reasons – our elder daughter is leaving for an extended period of travel and we want to see her safely on her way…..
We are busy from our opening date – but we’ll do our best to find a room for you if you can visit.

We are delighted to report that we have just been told that we have been selected by Trip Advisor for a Traveller Choice Hotel Award for the third time in successive years.
We do not know the full details yet but we are really pleased that the award that is based on users’ comments has come our way yet again.
For the first year we have been asked to write a few thoughts about what makes Molino del Santo so special ….
Well, the great guests, and then the excellent customers, and then the high calibre clientele, and then the wonderful visitors. Seriously it is down to people that have written to the website that we have obtained this accolade again – and of course it is customer support that keeps Molino thriving.
We will also mention the staff – before eulogising about the management and owners!!!
Thank you so much to the people who contributed directly to this success and thank you to all those who have been meaning to do write about their experiences at Molino and will now do so without further delay.

Someone recently asked us why we close Molino del Santo in the winter at a time when lots of people think about visiting the mountains at this time of year.
Reasons are : 1) We nearly always need to do some building and maintenance work that is impossible to do when we are open.
2) We need a break to maintain our enthusiastic levels of service.
3) Weekends are busy but weekdays tend to be quiet for us. We are looking into how to change this for next season so keep an eye out for information about special events and offers in 2011.
We’d love to know if YOU would visit us in our low season if we were open. Tell us when you would like to visit and we’ll make you a special offer.
Our office is closed until the beginning of February 2011 but please contact us by e-mail at any time. We’d love to hear from you and we will reply to every e-mail as soon as we can – and generally within 24 hours. This response rate may not apply to Christmas Day for example. …

We are staying open until the 14th November – a week later than we previously planned. Unless we get a group booking we will close on the 8th November and re-open on Friday the 12th for a final weekend flurry.

We’ve been so busy this summer we’ve not had time to post messages here – but we suddenly find we have space over the British half term week. Thanks to all of your regulars and new friends who have helped to make 2009 a very successful season at Molino del Santo. We are estimating that we will double our profitability in 2009 compared with 2008 – a great result in the current climate.
All of Hotel Molino del Santo’s facilities are now closed until the end of February 2010. We shall be able to answer e-mail enquiries all through the winter period and our phone lines will be answered until the end of November 2009 and from the 1st February until the 25th February 2010 from 10am until 2pm CET, Monday to Friday.
Arrangements during December and January for phone communication will be announced soon.
We hope very much to see you in 2010.
